Maryland Abortion Clinic Tells Caller It Can Kill Unborn Baby at 34 Weeks (8.5 Months): “The Needle Goes Through (the Baby’s) Abdomen and Goes into the Heart of the Fetus” A woman from Students for Life of America called a CARE abortion clinic this week.
She told a fictitious story about being about to give birth but wanting to end her baby’s life because she was “pretty desperate.” “My boyfriend is kind of out of the picture right now, so I don’t have any support,” the caller tells the doctor.
“Abortion at any stage is actually much safer than full-term delivery,” the doctor quickly and deceptively replies, telling the caller, who says she is 34 weeks, or 8.5 months, pregnant, that CARE clinics perform late-term abortions right up until delivery.
“It’s a four to five day procedure,” the doctor continued. “We do some basic lab work and we start to dilate your cervix. After that, we do what we call a fetal injection. A needle is inserted through your abdomen into the fetal heart, where lidocaine is injected. This will completely numb the fetus so it won’t feel any pain.”
The doctor reveals that the next step in the killing process will be “injecting a drug called digoxin and another drug called KCL into the fetal heart, which will slow and then stop the heartbeat.” “And then on the fourth day, depending on how dilated your cervix is, we’ll give you a drug called misoprostol. The misoprostol will trigger contractions and increase the dilation of your cervix, and you’ll have cramping and spasms, and then we’ll remove all the products of conception.”
Note that instead of calling the baby a baby, even while acknowledging that a baby can feel the pain of a drug-free abortion, the CARE clinic doctor refers to the dead baby as a “product of conception,” referring to the various body parts that are removed and discarded. Because the woman was allegedly in extreme pain, the doctor informed the caller that she would be injected with fentanyl, the most powerful and dangerous form of synthetic opioids, during the procedure.
Reaction to the call on social media was mixed, but most people seemed to agree that it was a horrific process that should not be allowed to happen. “Let’s be honest,” wrote one. “This is legal murder.”
