A new Ford patent eavesdrops on all conversations in cars, including passengers

“Ford Motor Company has filed a patent application to install listening devices in all of its new cars.

They intend to listen in on all conversations: not just the driver’s dialogue, but also the passengers’. One module will listen in on the driver and the other will be focused on the passenger.”

Presumably, Ford, like other companies, collects data to display targeted advertising.

But will the intercepted conversations be used only for advertisements? And what even guarantees that there won’t be backdoors or easy ways to hack the systems so that outsiders can eavesdrop on everything that goes on in the car?

Practice shows that no matter how new a technology is, in little more than a year it is easily penetrated and used by other persons, including the government.

For example, the keyless entry of the car, now widely used by criminal gangs for easy car theft.
